Building on the groundbreaking network and traffic management strategies introduced through the FRONTIER Dashboard, we're now proud to introduce the FRONTIER mobile app – named 'Citynaut'.

Much like the dashboard, Citynaut is designed with the same commitment to integration, proactive management, and user-centric design, offering navigation and journey planning across diverse modes of transportation. A virtual hub where automated vehicles, public transport, and urban commuters come together, this app is a step toward accident prevention, and cost-effective mobility for everyone.

The Citynaut mobile app encapsulates the future of transportation, offering real-time monitoring, multi stakeholder collaboration, and simulation models into a user's daily commute. With its validation in major European pilot sites - Oxfordshire, Athens, and Antwerp - Citynaut is a proof of concept for smart infrastructures and multimodal mobility collaboration

Delivering a Personalized Virtual VMS System, Citynaut is not just a tool; it's a traveler's companion on the journey towards resilient and autonomous mobility. Citynaut’s array of features are crafted to ensure that every journey is as efficient and enjoyable as possible. Some of the core functionalities implemented are:

1. ·Secure and Personalized User Experience: The journey with Citynaut begins with simple yet secure sign-up options, including native and third-party mechanisms. Users can easily register and sign in with their Google or Apple accounts and embark on a journey personalized to their needs.

2. Adaptive Journey Planning: Citynaut's journey planning feature is an accurate blend of convenience and foresight. Users can plan their routes with ease, taking advantage of Google’s places autocomplete feature for a stress-free travel experience.

3. Proactive Network Management: Citynaut includes proactive network management capabilities. It provides timely notifications about active response plans and management actions, enabling users to navigate the complexities of urban travel.

4. Comprehensive Trip History Analysis: A record of recent trips offers insights into travel times and the impact of network management actions. It's not just about where the user has been but also about the quality of his/her journey and the time saved.

5. User Engagement: Through incident reporting, users can become active participants in improving travel for all, as they are able to report traffic, crashes, hazards, extreme weather and suburban network incidents.

6. Interactive Real-Time Data: Citynaut engages the user with a live map view that not only guides the user through his/her route but also provides real-time updates on traffic conditions and public transport schedules, helping him/her make informed decisions on the go.

Citynaut is not just a standalone application but an integral part of the FRONTIER platform, developed using the Flutter framework[i] to ensure a consistent and responsive user experience across both Android and iOS devices. It interacts smoothly with other components, including the mobility hub that supports its operations and interfaces with journey planners and response plan propagation systems. The integration of Firebase[ii] further enhances Citynaut's capabilities by ensuring strong security measures for user data and providing a stable platform for user authentication and real-time data synchronization, embodying harmony within the mobility experience.
